OMG this whole Christmas in July thing was AWESOME!! It’s just so cool to put up the Christmas tree when it’s not even close to Christmas.
It’s kind of like when you were little, and you made a tent out of blankets in the living room. (Did you ever do that? I did!!)
I mean, it felt really cool because it’s just…not normal. It’s kind of like swimming in an indoor pool in the winter…just SO many levels of abnormal AWESOME!!
Anyways, we started the day with a HUGE breakfast, and we even had homemade eggnog! I was pretty psyched about that, because I didn’t think we’d have any eggnog. They don’t really sell it at this time of year.
(And by the way, I think they totally SHOULD sell it year-round, along with Cadbury mini eggs and those other cream-filled chocolate ones! And hey, while we’re at it, they should sell Halloween costumes year-round too, just because dressing up is always AWESOME!)
After that, my dad was like, “Who wants to get the Christmas decorations out of the attic?
And of course Brianna screamed, “Meeee!” It was WAY too early for that kind of high-pitched yelling. I mean, we were all sitting RIGHT THERE!
My mom went, “Calm down dear! You can get them! Nikki will take you up there and help you go through all the boxes.”
Then I said, “Gee Mom, thanks for volunteering me for TORTURE one story higher than usual!” Except I said it in my head so no one heard it but me.
So I took Brianna up to the attic. It was kind of super creepy…filled with cobwebs and stuff. And I swear, when we were like two feet in, a skeleton popped out of nowhere and TOTALLY freaked us both out!
I guess Mom didn’t pack the Halloween decorations very well!
Brianna wanted to go through all the boxes one by one because Mom said she could, which really made no sense since we could just do that downstairs…where I could sit a good five feet away so my ears wouldn’t BLEED if she screamed.
So I was like, “If we make it downstairs with all the boxes in three minutes, you’ll get a special gift!”
She was actually going to get a gift anyways…it was Christmas in July after all! But it worked anyways!
Decorating the tree was super fun! We listened to Christmas music the whole time, and at the end, Dad held Brianna up to put on the star.
But the BEST part was opening the gifts! I gave everyone exactly what I said I would. I gave my mom this cute shirt, Brianna a pair of mittens with Miss Penelope drawn on them, and my dad a little mini-golf practicing thing that I made out of a shoebox.
Want to know what they gave me? I bet the suspense is KILLING you! LOL 🙂
Brianna gave me a drawing that she made of the two of us, which I actually thought was super sweet. She drew me like a princess, with a big puffy dress and a crown, and she drew herself LITERALLY looking up to me.
Awwwwww!!!
My dad gave me a box of pennies. No joke, he really did! He said it was his penny collection, and he hoped I’d treasure it like he did.
(I was like, “Gee, thanks Dad. I’ll put this right between my box of buttons and jar of lint.” Just kidding! I’m not THAT snotty and ungrateful. If he thinks they’re cool, what the heck, I’ll keep them!)
The coolest gift, by far, was from my mom. She gave me this super pretty necklace that she got from her great grandmother…so my great, great grandmother.
It was SO not a boring pair of socks!!
When my mom gave it to me, she said, “You’re growing into such a beautiful young lady, so I think it’s only fitting you have a beautiful OLD necklace! Haha!”
Kind of sweet, kind of corny, and usually not very funny…yeah, that’s my mom!
After that, we all just kind of relaxed in our pajamas watching Christmas movies until we ate a big turkey dinner.
It was SUCH an awesome day!!
How was YOUR weekend? Do anything fun??
