MY THANKSGIVING KISS!!!

I know what you’re probably expecting: a play-by-play from Thanksgiving that involves overeating, sports on TV, and “Oh My Gaaaawwwd! You’ve gotten so big!” from aunts I rarely see.

Yeah, that happened. Hey it’s the holidays! But there’s SO MUCH MORE to share!! I totally didn’t expect this, but Brandon stopped by my house on Thanksgiving! I know…I was super shocked too!!

So I should probably back up to the morning a bit. Brianna ran in my room around 6:45 AM carrying Dad’s basketball, converted into a turkey.

Yup, that nut ball little sister of mine super glued colored construction paper all over it to make it look like a turkey, and then she threw it at my feet while making INSANELY loud gobble gobble sounds.

What is WRONG with that girl?? And why hasn’t anyone taken her for a BRAIN X-RAY to make sure there’s not really a massive lint ball where there should be a brain??

Anywho, I was going to run after her and FREAK OUT, but then I smelled it from downstairs: pumpkin pie in the oven!! My mom always gets up wicked early on Thanksgiving to make a bazillion pies.

So I decided to let Brianna live one more day, and ran down the stairs for a closer smell. (Yes, it gets better as you get closer. And I needed my pie smell fix!)

Nothing too exciting happened for the next four hours…unless you consider opening a new bar of soap and watching the parade on TV exciting.

But right around 11, that’s when things got really good! A lot of my family members started showing up around then…my grandmother, my aunts, and this random homeless looking guy who’s dating my older cousin.

I don’t know when the grunge look came back, but I accidentally thought she picked him up at the local shelter to be all charitable around the holidays. Nope…she didn’t pick him up on the side of the road. She picked him up a few weeks ago at 7-Eleven slushie stand. (We’re such a classy family!)

There was a massive mob of people in my foyer, hugging, taking off jackets, being all loud and affectionate and stuff.

The door bell rang again, and I didn’t realize my whole family was already there, so I opened it in a super obnoxious way-too-excited way. I thought it was an aunt or something, so I was all like, “Gobble gobble! Happy turkey day!!!”

(Yes, I really said that…I know, I’m such a dork!!)

Turns out it WASN’T an aunt. It was Brandon!!

His family volunteers in the morning every Thanksgiving (I know…he’s SO SUPER thoughtful!!) They were driving home, and my house is on the way. Brandon saw all the people coming in, so he asked his Dad to stop real quick just so he could say Happy Thanksgiving.

How sweet is that??

When I realized it was him, I kind of gasped a little. It was totally unexpected! Picture what you’d do if you were at the Statue of Liberty and it came to life and started doing the Macarena. That’s how surprised I was!!

He was like, “Hey. I, uh, well we were just driving by and I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving real quick.”

I realized I seemed WAY too excited. I see him every day at school and I NEVER gasp, no matter how cute he looks. It was all that holiday adrenaline!

So I tried to be at least a little cool. I went, “Hey, sup?”

Sup?? Who says that?

His Dad started beeping for him…guess he wasn’t kidding about stopping “real quick.”

He went in to give me a hug, and that’s when it happened!

By “it” I mean my great grandmother showing up (my whole family WASN’T there before), practically pushing Brandon out of the way, and then giving me a BIG lipsticky kiss on the cheek.

So that was my Thanksgiving kiss. I know what YOU were thinking. No such luck!

But I will say this…Thanksgiving dinner was ALL KINDS OF AWESOME! And hey, there’s still Christmas. Hopefully then he’ll stop by when my big fat family is already sitting down!

How was YOUR Thanksgiving??
