Remember when I was all like, “I hope the next post you read from me is about my AWESOME time at the carnival”?
Well GUESS WHAT!? Actually, you probably don’t have to guess. It’s kind of right there in the title. 🙂
I got to go…with Chloe AND Zoey!
I still have NO CLUE why Zoey got grounded, but the good news is she got permission to go to the carnival on Saturday night. I guess she did a ton of extra chores or something.
The carnival was AMAZING!! We pretty much went on all the rides, but there was something else really cool that happened.
After we went on everything once, we stopped to get ice cream. (I got cookie dough…mmmm…I could go for some cookie dough right now…)
Anyways, we were sitting eating our ice cream, right next to this guy doing caricatures…you know, those cartoony drawings that make you look like you have a MASSIVE melon of a head on a scrawny little body.
I was totally enjoying watching him work, you know, because I’m all into art and stuff. Chloe said she had to go to the bathroom, and Zoey said, “I’ll go with her so you can keep watching Picasso here!”
While they were gone, I took a pen out of my purse and started drawing my own caricature on a napkin.
I thought I did a pretty good job! It turns out, the girl who paid that dude thought the same thing. After the artist guy was done, she was like, “Um, no offense, but THAT chick did a WAY better job!
I guess she noticed I was drawing her too while she was just sitting there.
(That’s why I NEVER get a caricature done at a carnival…who wants to just sit there staring blankly at some old dude when you COULD be whipping your hair, like Willow Smith, on a super fun roller coaster?!)
I was pretty psyched when she said my drawing was really good. It turns out she wasn’t the ONLY one who thought that…the caricaturist went, “Wow she’s right!”
Then her boyfriend said the same thing! These random strangers were totally into my napkin art!
Right then, the caricature guy asked me if I wanted to make a few bucks real quick. He said he had to leave for a half-hour, just to pick up his son, and he wanted to know if I wanted to do a few caricatures until he got back.
He told me I could keep whatever I earned. So I was like, “Um, yeah I would!!!”
Chloe and Zoey got back from the bathroom two seconds after I said that, and I realized it would be pretty rude of me to ditch them just so I could sit around and draw.
I mean, I can sit around and draw at home. I can’t get PAID for it at home, but still…you know what I mean!
I told Chloe and Zoey about his offer, and they were like, “You should TOTALLY do it! We already went on all the rides, and it’s only a half-hour!” So I did!
I did four caricatures while he was gone, and made 40 bucks!
I was REALLY tempted to spend it on carnival games, but I decided to put it into a “Summer Fun” fund for Chloe, Zoey, and me. This way, we have a little extra spending cash to do something else fun some time soon.
Maybe I’ll open my OWN caricature stand on my front lawn or something. I’m not really sure how I’d advertise that…I mean, it’s kind of random!
But hey, apparently I’m REALLY good at doing these. Maybe word would travel fast!
What do YOU think? Should I open a little caricature business?
