Happy 4th of July everyone!! OK, I know it’s a day late, but I like to think of the 4th of July as a week-long holiday since people set off fireworks for WAY more than the one day.
My 4th was TOTALLY awesome!!
Chloe and Zoey slept over on the 3rd, which was super fun. We always have awesome sleepovers!
When I woke up on the 4th, I saw a gift at the bottom of my bed. At first I was like, “I didn’t know you guys were going to give me anything! I feel SO bad! I didn’t get anything for you!”
Then they said it wasn’t from them. So I read the note and it said, “Love Mom and Dad.”
I tore the paper off and saw…wait for it…the yellow bathing suit I wanted!!
OMG I was SO excited! It was kind of like a super hot Christmas morning, just for me. 🙂
That afternoon we had this big barbecue. My Dad is ALL ABOUT barbecuing! I mean he takes it SUPER seriously, like grilling is an art and the 4th of July is his biggest performance EVER.
Have you ever seen an auction in a movie? The guy who’s auctioning off the stuff always talks super fast.
Dad’s kind of like that when he grills. “Hot dog coming up! Who wants a hot dog? We’ve got a hot dog here! Going once, going twice, sold to the little lady in the red, white, and blue!”
Then he always tells us to watch him when he’s flipping burgers. Like, “Want to see a perfect flip?”
I try to pretend I’m really into it, you know, to make him feel good. So I’ll say, “Wow Dad! You’re like the best burger flipper ever! If you weren’t so into bugs you could TOTALLY be a professional griller!”
I told Chloe and Zoey how he’s really into it, so they could compliment him too.
After he cooked Zoey’s cheeseburger, she was like, “Wow Mr. Maxwell. You cooked that SO fast. And I’ve never seen such an awesome flip!”
LOL 🙂
The barbecue was a total blast! I even sat in Brianna’s kiddie pool for a bit with Chloe and Zoey. Mom was right…it really does cool you down!
I know I said I’d never go in that thing, but I was dying to wear that yellow bathing suit!
That night, we all went to see fireworks, and there was a TINY bit of Brianna drama on the way out.
My mom told us to bring sweatshirts in case it got cold, but Brianna couldn’t find her flag hoodie. She TOTALLY flipped out!
She was like, “I’m not going without my flag hoodie! I’m patrionic!”
So my Mom said, “Try HISTRIONIC!”
I had to Google that…it means “melodramatic.” Yup, that’s Brianna!
Luckily, Chloe saved the day! She found it in Brianna’s toy box, which I thought was totally random. Then Brianna remembered she put it in there so the flag “wouldn’t be lonely when we were all outside playing.”
Not sure why she didn’t just bring it outside, since she seems to think the flag’s human, just like Miss Penelope!
We were a little late getting out the door, but luckily the fireworks were late getting started. The show was SO good!! And the finale was the best ever. It seriously looked like the WHOLE sky was full of colored light.
It was just a perfect day!! What did you do on the 4th? Did you see fireworks too?
