The library is supposed to be a chill place where people relax and read, but NOT in my school!!
Yesterday I was stocking shelves with Chloe and Zoey. We were talking and giggling a little, but we were pretty quiet about it.
Then all of a sudden, Pat came in with a group of kids. (In case you don’t remember, Pat’s like the boy version of MacKenzie…CCP and TOTALLY mean and nasty!!)
I guess they had a substitute for their English class, and they convinced her that they spend English reading in the library on Wednesdays.
(Substitutes are SO gullible sometimes!!)
When they got there, they were SUPER loud! They didn’t REALLY want to come to the library, but the principal caught them hanging out in the hallway and told them to get wherever they were going.
This girl Emma was sitting at a table, writing in a notebook, just minding her own business. We’re not close friends, but she’s a dork like me and SUPER nice!
I feel kind of bad for her because she has a HUGE crush on this kid Jason, but she’s afraid to tell him because she thinks he wouldn’t like her.
Pat knows all about her crush because he stole her diary once and read it to his WHOLE table in lunch.
SO mean, right?!
Anyways, Pat was telling some loud story, being all OBNOXIOUS, when he saw Jason walk in. All of a sudden Emma started sweating like crazy.
I felt so bad…I could tell she was super nervous!
Jason was looking at a bookshelf right behind her, and she was just kind of frozen, like a deer in the headlights! She stopped reading, she stopped writing…she just sat there, TOTALLY freaking out!
I whispered to Chloe and Zoey, saying we should go over and sit with her. Then maybe she’d feel more relaxed! But before we had a chance, Pat’s friend Jacob walked over, tapped Emma on the shoulder, and handed her a note.
All of a sudden Emma looked super excited. She had this HUGE smile like a little kid on Christmas.
I just KNEW something wasn’t right.
After a few minutes, Emma wrote something on the note, got up, and started walking toward Jason holding it. Pat and all his HORRIBLE friends were staring at her laughing. I just HAD to find out what was going on!
I ran over and was like, “Hey Emma, can you help us with something?”
When Emma got behind the bookshelf with Chloe, Zoey, and me, she showed us the note. It said:
Hi Emma,
Do you like me as more than a friend? Let me know!
Jason
Then underneath it, SHE wrote:
Yes!!! You like ME as more than a friend??
OMG she was going to give that note to Jason and CLEARLY he didn’t write it! I guess she just wanted to believe it so bad that she didn’t really think about it.
We didn’t want to hurt her feelings or anything, so Chloe said, “You’re SUCH an awesome girl, and Jason would totally be into you if he got a chance to know you, but he didn’t write that note.”
I felt SO bad. It looked like she wanted to cry!
Right then Pat and his friends got WAY too loud so the librarian came over and told them to go back to their class.
She was like, “Patrick, this isn’t a concert! There’s no need to scream!”
I was SO glad they got kicked out. It’s just not cool to be so mean and nasty!!
