This weekend I ended up at the WORST sleepover ever!! Here’s how it all went down…
Last Thursday I saw this shy girl wandering around the hallway while staring at her feet. It looked she was about to cry, walk into a trash barrel, or both!
It reminded me of the time Brianna wandered away from my mom and me in the mall.
We found her hiding under a table in the food court, sucking on her thumb, using her other hand to block her face.
Brianna seems to think no one can see her if she can’t see them…which makes it SUPER EASY to take her down in hide and seek!
Anyways, that’s what this girl looked like…like she wanted to crawl into a locker and hide!!
I figured she was new in school, so I decided to help her out. I walked up to her and said, “You look lost. Need help?”
She said, “Um, I’m not lost…I know where I’m going,” and then started walking into the first door to her left.
Then I said, “So you WANT to go into the boys’ room? I mean, hey, I’m not judging or anything…”
She turned BRIGHT RED! So we both started laughing, and she said, “I’m Julie. I’m new.”
I knew it! I’m AWESOME at helping new kids (like I did with Marcy), especially since I was one myself, so I decided to introduce her to Chloe and Zoey.
I told her she should come over after school, since we were all planning to hang out.
She seemed SO shy in school, but she TOTALLY opened up at my house!
Chloe was talking about this cheesy romance novel she’s reading. Then she said, “We’re all single. But someday we’ll have awesome boyfriends!” Then Julie said, “Girlfriend, I hear ya,” and started doing the Beyonce Single Ladies dance!
It was SO funny…and TOTALLY unexpected!!
After a few seconds, she made this loud gasping noise and then just froze with her mouth wide open, like she was super excited about something.
Then she started jumping up and down and screamed, “YOU GUYS HAVE TO COME TO MY SLEEPOVER TOMORROW!!!”
She said she’d felt TOTALLY bummed out that she had to move RIGHT before her birthday, because all her old friends were pretty far away.
So her mom had arranged this sleepover with her new boss’ daughter, who also goes to our school. But it was just going to be the two of them, and she didn’t even know the girl.
How AWKWARD would that be!
We couldn’t let her have a sad, two-person birthday sleepover, so we said OF COURSE we’d come!
We got there before the other girl, but it was 7:00 and we were STARVING so we decided to order some pizza. After that we started playing Truth or Dare.
I don’t know why I always suggest that game!! I just KNEW there was a Brandon question coming, and I REALLY didn’t want to broadcast my personal business to someone I hardly knew!
I chose dare, because I thought that would be way easier, but Julie chose a pretty embarrassing one!
She dared me to take my clean underwear out of my bag, put it on my head, and then answer the door when the pizza came JUST LIKE THAT! The other part was that I needed to scream at the delivery guy, “I LOVE PIZZA!!!”
In about 15 minutes, the doorbell rang, and I turned BRIGHT RED just thinking about it. I didn’t know if I could really go through with it!
But I didn’t want be THAT GIRL…you know, the one who SAYS she’ll take a dare, but then chickens out, so I figured I’d just get it over with quickly, like ripping off a Band-Aid.
I grabbed the money, ran to the door, and pulled it open screaming, “I LOVE PIZZA!”
But it wasn’t the pizza delivery guy…it was MacKenzie! SHE was the girl Julie was expecting!
This blog post is already SUPER long so I’ll tell you the rest on Thursday. I’m sure the suspense is KILLING you, so I’ll leave you with this little sneak preview: It was the WORST SLEEPOVER EVER!!
