We have a group of dorky friends. Lately, Sophie, the most popular girl in the whole entire school, is trying to charm Eve, one of the girls in our group. Sophie’s trying to get Eve to worship her like everyone else does! What should we do?Megan and Rachel
Hi Megan and Rachel! I totally get why you’re so freaked out! I love my little dorky group, and I’d be SUPER nervous if MacKenzie tried to steal Chloe or Zoey away!
In our case, I wouldn’t just be bummed about the potential to lose one of my best friends. I’d also be worried for their safety…MacKenzie’s like a rabid pit bull, and I wouldn’t leave her alone with my worst enemy!
(Actually, I guess I’d be okay with that, since SHE’S my worst enemy…)
You mentioned that Sophie’s popular and everyone worships her, but is she like MacKenzie? Is she mean? Is she trying to turn Eve against the rest of you guys? Is she just messing with Eve’s head and she’ll probably just hurt her?
If you think this stuff is true, then I say you guys should all sit Eve down and warn her! Tell her you really care about her, and you don’t want to see her get her feelings hurt in any way!
If you answered “no” to all those questions I asked and you’re just scared of losing Eve, that’s a different story!
She could be friends with a new girl…even a popular one…and STILL be part of your dorky group.
That’s the cool thing about dorks: WE don’t discriminate! As long as someone’s a decent person, we’ll give her a chance!
If Eve’s the good friend you think she is, she won’t wake up one day and decide, “I have a popular friend now, so those other suckers are on their own!”
She’ll be the same Eve she’s always been, just with a new friend who may become friends with all of you some day, too!
So that’s my advice: If you think Sophie’s up to no good, then tell Eve that. If you’re just afraid of losing Eve, give her the chance to prove you wrong! Good friends don’t just bail because they make other friends.
What do you guys think? Do you have any advice for Megan and Rachel?
