Remember last week I told you about some awesome fall ideas my mom came up with? One of them was apple picking, and we decided to go this weekend. It was SO much fun!!
OK, so there was one TINY less than awesome part. It wasn’t just Chloe, Zoey, and me. My mom took the three of us…and brought Brianna too.
I wouldn’t mind hanging out with Brianna if she weren’t such a total spaz!
Last time she hung out with us she almost got us kicked out of the park by hurling her little monkey body all over some stranger’s rented bouncy house.
OMG I was SO embarrassed! In case you don’t remember, she actually hit me in the face by accident when I was trying to get her out of that thing.
When my mom told me she was coming apple picking, I had this HORRIBLE vision.
I pictured her accidentally tossing a basketball-sized apple at my head…RIGHT as I was climbing a tree to reach one that was super high up…and then I saw me falling and breaking BOTH of my arms.
(Yeah I know…apples never get that big, and I probably wouldn’t break BOTH of my arms from a four-foot drop. Things are NEVER realistic in my visions!!)
Luckily none of that happened this weekend! For the most part we had a blast! But there WAS a tiny bit of drama.
My mom made this thing out of a broomstick and half of a 2-liter coke bottle, to help get apples that were high up.
Basically, the coke bottle part sits on top like a bowl, and it has little jagged edges so that you can use it to get the apple loose, and it falls right in it.
That was a pretty clever idea, but it’s SO much more fun to climb a little!
Chloe was like, “Mrs. Maxwell, you should climb up and get one!”
Then my mom went, “The only thing I climb is my Stairmaster Chloe!”
Then Zoey said, “Don’t limit your challenges. Challenge your limits. Words to live by Mrs. Maxwell!”
My mom’s ALWAYS telling me to challenge myself, so it was pretty hard for her to say no after that!
I held her apple picking broomstick thing while she climbed up a tree looking super awkward. I could tell she was kind of nervous, but it was so cool to see her letting loose a little!
She started to kind of have fun with it. She was all, “Look at me, climbing a tree!!”
Zoey actually got all on video. (I SO want to put that thing on YouTube!)
We were all having a blast until Brianna saw Zoey recording. OF COURSE she had to be a total ham!
She started climbing up the tree next to my mom, and screaming, “LOOK AT ME, CLIMBING A TREE, TOO!!”
But then she realized she was kind of high up and started TOTALLY freaking out. She even started crying!
My mom climbed down to get her down, but she was terrified of falling, so she wouldn’t budge even a little.
She kept screaming, “CALL THE FIREMAN!”
You know how on TV they always have a fireman come to get a cat out of a tree? She thought we’d actually call the fire department to come help her get down.
Finally my mom was like, “I got you! Just let go of the branch and then we can go home and make a pie!”
Brianna would probably have broken an arm for a pie, so she let go after that.
It was pretty lame that we had to leave early, but we’d already been there for a while…and we were all dying for some pie!!
What did YOU do this weekend? Anything fun??
