Remember last week when I told you how I made Brianna’s Halloween costume? Well I felt SO confident in my costume-making skills that I decided to make my own this weekend!
I thought a TON about what I wanted to be. My dad suggested a ladybug…of course!! That would actually be kind of cute, but I thought MacKenzie would DEFINITELY be like, “BUG GIRL came dressed as a bug…big shocker!!”
My mom suggested a ghost, but I could pretty much make that costume in my sleep…and I REALLY wanted a challenge!
Brianna said to go as Miss Penelope. Now THAT would be a challenge…creating a HUGE hand costume! But NO ONE at school would have any clue who Miss Penelope was!!
I eventually decided to go as a fairy, and I was SO psyched to make the costume! I was mostly excited about the wings. I wanted to make them HUGE, with a TON of glitter all over them.
I got wire and tulle (that fuzzy gauzy stuff you see on Princess dresses) and spray glitter, and I worked on them for HOURS!
I mean I didn’t just spray the glitter on like it was hairspray going on your hair. I’m an ARTIST! I’m better than that!!
I made these elaborate swirly designs, and they looked really, really cool!!
When I was finished, I called Chloe and Zoey to see if they wanted to come over and see them. But Chloe told me they were going to the mall for a bit, and asked if I wanted to come.
I put the wings outside in my backyard to dry. I thought they’d be fine if I put them in the corner. I even told Brianna, “I put my wings in the backyard. They’re wet so HANDS OFF!!”
When I got back from the mall, I walked in to find Brianna sitting in the living room watching TV with glitter ALL OVER her face.
She screamed, “LOOK AT ME! I’M A PRINCESS!!”
For a second, I thought, “Oh man, Mom’s going to be SO ticked off at her!”
Then I realized that was the same glitter from my wings! I ran to the backyard and saw the glitter was all smudged. Brianna totally messed them up!!
So I yelled, “Why did you do that?!? I said hands off!!”
Then she yelled, “My hands WERE off…I rubbed my FACE on the wings!”
OMG she INFURIATES me sometimes!!
Right then, Mom walked in and said, “Nikki what happened to Brianna’s face??”
I have NO idea why she asked ME! She knew I was just out at the mall, and I’m not my sister’s keeper!”
After Mom cleaned Brianna off, she screamed, “I want to be a fairy for Halloween!”
So I was like, “I’M the fairy! I already made yours!”
Then she started crying. I think she just cries to get her way, and that’s SO not cool!
I had spent ALL that time making her the rainbow costume, and I even made the sun light up, but now Brianna wanted mine…and she was trying to GUILT me into giving it to her!
Finally I said, “FINE! You can have the SMUDGED wings if you want them. I’ll go to my dance as a super cool light-up sun. I bet EVERYONE will be jealous of my costume!!”
So OF COURSE she said, “No I’M the rainbow!!”
I was so glad that worked!
It stunk that I was going to have to re-do the wings, but I figured this would give me a chance to make them even better.
And hey, I said before I love a challenge!
