January 16, 2021 HELP! I’M ALLERGIC TO MY CRUSH!! Dear Brandon,I have a major problem. My crush at school eats peanut butter sandwiches almost every day. But I’ve got a severe nut allergy, and have to sit at the nut-free table in the cafeteria, which is like 12 tables away from him! He also loves dogs and I’m allergic to those too!!! For me, it’s already embarrassing to have allergies, but the fact that my crush loves things I can never share with him is even worse. How could he ever LIKE me when I’m allergic to things he LOVES??? Help!!Awful Allergy Alert Hi Awful Allergy Alert, First of all, I’m so sorry to hear that you have allergies! Please don’t be embarrassed. That must be a big challenge to deal with, for real. My best bud, Max Crumbly, is allergic to lots of stuff. He even has an inhaler. It’s really annoying for him, but we still manage to hang out! Here’s the thing: we don’t pick our friends based on their health issues or things they can’t do. We pick them based on how good of a friend they are and how much we enjoy being around them. So, it’s not about what foods they can’t eat or what animals they can’t be around. We like people because of who they are! You say that your crush loves peanut butter and puppies, but I bet he likes other things as well. Here are a few suggestions: Ask your crush to meet at a library to study and hang out. You can sit on opposite sides of a table, and food and fuzzy friends aren’t typically allowed in a library, so allergies won’t be a problem. You can ask some friends to come along too!Chat with him, via text or Zoom (if your parents let you do that). He’s probably got a lot of other interests, other than peanut butter and puppies, if you just ask. You might have more in common than you think!Have a brainstorming session with your BFFs to talk about all this. I don’t always do that kind of thing, but my friend Nikki always feels better after she talks with her friends. And she’s pretty awesome! She’s so nice and has a really great smile and—oh gosh, I’m getting off-track. Um, anyway, talking to friends is always a good way to work through problems. Okay, bottom line: Don’t cross a crush off your list because of things that they can’t control. If you like him, find something to suggest doing that doesn’t involve the things that you’re allergic to! That’s all I’ve got for today. It’s your turn readers. Is there anything your friends do that makes it difficult to hang out with them? How do you handle it? Tell us in the comments.

Positive about allergies says February 8, 2021 at 10:21 am It’s okay, it’s okay. I have dairy allergies which is probably worse but I always try to think positive about it. I mean, there’s still some foods that don’t have dairy, right?? Anyway, your allergies aren’t even that bad!
Cupcake123 says February 7, 2021 at 1:48 pm Omg guys you will be shocked on my(and my brother’s) allergies. My brother is allergic to CUCUMBER and I’m allergic to KIWI!!! When I eat it, my neck gets swollen and I CAN’T BREATHE!!!
ASIAN BRAINS says February 6, 2021 at 12:56 am It’s okay, I am severely allergic to milk and I feel like its much worse than being allergic to nuts. Your not the only one :)))))
CCP_Wannabe says February 5, 2021 at 12:40 am OMG! I don’t have a nut allergy, or am allergic to dogs, but I have celiac disease. It means I can’t have wheat, flour, barley, or anything like that. I can relate! Also, when one of my friends come over to my house, (he is allergic to like every nut known to man kind, sesame seeds, and birch trees), we just don’t eat anything he’s allergic to for a week! Maybe you guys could figure something out! 🙂 Hope this helps, gl! CCP_Wannabe
cosmicCat9 says February 9, 2021 at 9:08 am I know a girl with coeliac disease… I know because in Food Tech she had to make everything gluten free and I heard someone say it one time.
NoPeanuts says February 4, 2021 at 10:53 pm Oh my gosh I have a deathly allergic peanut allergy. All of elementary school I had to sit on the other side of the cafeteria with one person from my class and EVERYONE would always tease me in the lunch line that I got lunch detention and I hated it. Also this one girl pretends to have a peanut allergy to be like me. It drives me NUTS (haha get it)! And I have an allergy appointment on Monday and my doctor is kinda creepy.
SonicTheComic says February 3, 2021 at 8:14 pm tell you what: nut allergy is the KING KONG of allergies. it’s one of the most common allergies out there! idk if this helps TwT
Kitty cat! says February 3, 2021 at 7:02 am Oof,this must be annoying! But maybe if you tell him that your allergic, he might stop eating peanut butter sandwiches at school! I’m not sure how you could sort out the dog allergy though… Stay safe!!
CCP GAL!!! says February 3, 2021 at 12:32 am OMG I feel so sorry for you hon, like i mean your own crush eats peanut butter and your allergic. Well I guess you can introduce him to something else that your NOT allergic to and maybe sit with him and talk. You could even ask him to hang out sometime, in places both of you like.
Sapphire/DJOctavioFan says January 30, 2021 at 10:05 am Maybe have a chat with him about your allergies and maybe it will help! Hope it works! Sincerely, – Sapphire the Inktoling/DJ Octavio fan
